As the Classical Philology Society, we are preparing the itineraries of our trips to Istanbul and Anatolia with the desire to witness the cultural heritage left by the civilizations we have studied. During this process, we chose the geographical legacy of the Homeric epics, which are believed to have taken place in Anatolia and have left traces in both the Western and Eastern worlds, as a starting point. This common ground for students actively working in the fields of Ancient Greek Language and Literature, Latin Language and Literature, and Hittitology within our club led us to choose Troy as our initial destination. Following Troy, we have conducted trips to the Ionian, Phrygian, and Pisidian regions to witness all the cultural heritage that Anatolia has to offer, and we continue to make plans for new directions.

CITY TOURS (ANCIENT HERITAGE OF ISTANBUL)

We organize our Istanbul tours as investigative trips led by our teachers and professional tourist guides to see the epigraphic and philological materials that the city offers us in light of the theoretical education we receive at school.

COMPLETED TOURS

  • Sultanahmet and Classical Istanbul Tour (For the details of the tour, click here).
  • Süleymaniye-Vefa-Zeyrek Tour (For the details of the tour, click here).

Since the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year, the Classical Philology Society has been organizing this event where academics from different disciplines interpret cinema works that have left their mark on world cinema and are widely regarded as “cult films” by many critics. Within this framework, we organize approximately 3 events each semester.
